Path to New Opportunities: The EB-5 Investor Immigration Program
Path to New Opportunities: The EB-5 Investor Immigration Program
Green Card and U.S. Citizenship through Investment
We live in a world where opportunities for financial growth and personal development are highly valued—many dream of living, working, and raising their children in a country with abundant opportunities. There are many ways to achieve this dream, and the United States offers one of them—the immigration program for foreign investors, also known as the "EB-5 Program," which has been in existence for over 30 years. The U.S. government established the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program in 1990 to attract foreign investments and stimulate economic growth. Since then, the EB-5 Program remains open to applicants from all countries. One application includes the investor and their family members (spouse and unmarried children under 21).
To obtain permanent residency status (green card), a minimum investment of $800,000 is required—this is the government-set minimum amount—in a job-creating business project. The investment is repaid after the successful completion of the project. Five years after receiving the green card, the investor and their family members may apply for U.S. citizenship if they wish.
Benefits of the EB-5 Program for Investors
The EB-5 visa is a potential path for many foreign nationals seeking greater security, new opportunities, and a new life for their families in the United States. The EB-5 Program offers the following benefits:
- Permanent residency status with the option to apply for U.S. citizenship;
- Access to the U.S. education system at the same cost as residents and citizens;
- The right to live, work, or retire anywhere in the U.S. and travel freely;
- Access to the advanced healthcare system;
- The EB-5 Program does not require English proficiency or business experience;
- Applicants in the U.S. in a legal non-immigrant status (tourist, student, work) can transition to green card status while their application is under review, with work/study and travel authorization;
- The family can choose who will be the primary applicant. Not all qualified family members must receive a green card. For example, only one spouse with children may receive a green card, or parents may gift funds to their child who is studying or will study in the U.S., and only the child will receive a green card under the EB-5 Program.
Qualified Projects for EB-5 Investments
The most popular option is passive investment in a project offered by an EB-5 Regional Center. EB-5 Regional Centers are organizations authorized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to select projects, receive, and manage funds from EB-5 investors.
EB5 Capital Regional Center
