UAE values regional, international partnerships in driving energy sector transformation: Suhail Al Mazrouei
ALMATY, 27th September, 2024 (WAM) -- Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said that the United Arab Emirates believes in the role of regional and international partnerships in accelerating the energy sector's transformation.
He added that the UAE continuously strives to build strategic relations with friendly countries and leading global companies in the field of clean and renewable energy and sustainable technologies to support its efforts in achieving a sustainable future and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.
The minister made the statements while leading the UAE delegation to the 29th Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference, which concluded Thursday and lasted for two days in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
In his keynote speech at the conference yesterday, the minister highlighted the international partnerships established by the UAE, including the agreement signed by the Government of Kazakhstan and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) on the sidelines of the COP28 conference to build a 1-gigawatt wind energy project in Kazakhstan.
Additionally, he added there was a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Kazakhstan and the UAE Ministry of Investment to develop low-carbon energy projects with a capacity of 10 gigawatts, along with other agreements that align with the goal of COP28 to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030.
He emphasised the UAE's commitment to balancing industrial growth with environmental protection.
“The UAE supports environmental policies and the sustainable development of petrochemicals by relying on more energy-efficient technologies and reducing emissions, ensuring a sustainable future for the industry. In addition to investing in traditional petrochemicals, the UAE is working on integrating renewable and sustainable energy solutions into the petrochemical industry, reflecting the UAE's future vision for a low-carbon economy and promoting the use of clean energy such as solar and nuclear power.”
