Suhail Al Mazrouei leads UAE delegation to Kazakhstan to boost cooperation in key sectors

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kazakhstan, led a UAE delegation on a visit to Almaty and Astana aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries across several priority sectors, according to the state news agency WAM.

The visit opened with Al Mazrouei's participation in the 30th Kazakhstan International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference (KIOGE 2026) in Almaty, which drew more than 500 companies from around 30 countries. At a roundtable on the sidelines of the event, he spoke about the need for closer international coordination in the energy sector and for strengthening the resilience and security of energy supplies. He also held bilateral talks with Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akbarov, on energy connectivity and further cooperation.

In Astana, the UAE, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan signed a trilateral memorandum of understanding on the Central Asia-South Asia railway corridor, intended to improve rail connectivity, expand transport networks and support trade and regional integration. Al Mazrouei also joined an investment roundtable hosted by the Astana International Financial Centre, where UAE entities including Etihad Rail, Masdar, AD Ports Group and Presight discussed ongoing projects and new investment opportunities with Kazakh counterparts, and attended the inauguration of Kazakhstan's first dedicated artificial-intelligence university, NAIRU, opened by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Al Mazrouei and President Tokayev, at which the two sides exchanged greetings on behalf of their countries' leaderships and reviewed bilateral relations across energy, transport infrastructure, investment and technology, including potential collaboration with AD Ports Group, development of the Middle Corridor, and cooperation in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing with Presight. Both sides underlined their commitment to expanding the strategic partnership and advancing joint projects in the period ahead.
