Al Qasimia University, Kazakhstan's Al-Farabi University strengthen academic ties

SHARJAH, 11th November, 2024 (WAM) -- Al Qasimia University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kazakhstan’s Al-Farabi National University, aimed at strengthening academic ties and expanding collaborative research across various disciplines.

This partnership is intended to promote the exchange of expertise, joint studies, and research initiatives between the two institutions.

The MoU was signed at Al-Farabi National University’s campus in Almaty, Astana, with Professor Awad Al-Khalaf representing Al Qasimia University and Professor Yerkin Duyssenov, First Vice-President of Al-Farabi National University, signing on behalf of the Kazakh institution. The formal signing event was attended by senior faculty and administrative members from both universities.

The agreement includes faculty exchange, student visits, sharing academic publications, and organising joint scientific and cultural activities. Additionally, both institutions will collaborate on training programmes and co-supervise academic theses, a move expected to elevate research quality and encourage academic exchange.

Professor Awad Al-Khalaf, Director of Al Qasimia University, underscored the importance of this agreement with Al-Farabi National University, stating that it aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and founder of the university, to foster global academic engagement and scientific collaboration.

He noted that Al Qasimia University aims to bridge knowledge and foster academic bonds with universities worldwide, enhancing the integration and dissemination of scholarly information.

Professor Duyssenov stated that the partnership with Al Qasimia University is an invaluable opportunity for sharing academic knowledge and expertise. He affirmed that Al-Farabi National University values its connections with prestigious global institutions like Al Qasimia, which is recognised as a centre of knowledge, promoting balance and moderation within the region.

Duyssenov highlighted that this collaboration would cover a wide range of academic and research areas, benefiting from Al Qasimia University’s pioneering experience in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. He expressed optimism that this would support curriculum development and create shared educational opportunities.
